Playa de las Américas is the beach and reef that gives the town its name, a kilometre along the seafront from La Izquierda. The beach peels left and the reef breaks both ways, on a south-westerly swell with an easterly offshore, and the tide changes little.
It looks at a different part of the ocean from La Izquierda, which is the reason to know it. January is its best month: eleven clean days out of thirty, four blown out, fifteen too small. Fewer good days than its neighbour, and more small ones.
It is likely to be crowded when it works, the locals are the same ones, and there is rock around the sand. The schools of the south bring groups here on the smallest days, which tells you where the easy water is, but it is not a beach to paddle out on alone in your first week.

A month in figures
In January, the month the forecast guides single out for this coast:
Shares of the month, from the published forecast statistics. The model reads a grid, so neighbouring breaks share a figure: this describes a stretch of coast, not this wave on its own. The other eleven months are not published.
