Surfing in Lahinch
Lahinch is a small town on the Clare coast with a beach that faces straight into the Atlantic. Sand, left and right, and surfable at every stage of the tide, on a westerly swell with a north-easterly offshore. It is the gentlest break in Ireland.

April is its best month and the figures say what Ireland is: ten clean days out of thirty, nineteen blown out, one or two too small. The swell is essentially never the problem here and the wind almost always is, which is why a forecast is not a refinement on this coast but the condition of the trip.
Rocks and rips are both listed. Gentle in Ireland is not gentle in Portugal.
