Hiriketiya Left breaks over reef on the western side of the cove, and it has little to do with the beach fifty metres away. A left that holds, with a defined take-off, where the bay is soft and forgiving.
It starts later than the sand and stops earlier: it needs a swell with some push behind it to exist at all, which makes it far rarer than its neighbour.
When it is on, everybody who can surf it is on it, in a cove with nowhere to spread out. Rock in the line-up: small bay, good left, shared peak and a hard bottom is the whole brief.
