Check availabilityFour storeys on the seafront in the middle of Weligama, no more than fifty metres of sand from the wave, and built for people who travel alone. Most guests arrive on their own, most are in their twenties and thirties, and the camp takes adults only.
Mornings start with coffee and a snack half an hour before you paddle out, then two hours of lessons by level on the bay, over sand you can stand on a long way out. Nearly half the guests turn up as beginners, and the bay is there for them. At four in the afternoon the second session goes out, guided this time, and that is when the tuk-tuks head for Midigama, Ahangama or Mirissa, fifteen minutes away. In January the reefs at Midigama and Ahangama work five days out of seven.
The evenings are the point of the place. Happy hour on the roof at sunset, a themed dinner at shared tables, Sri Lankan one night and Mexican the next, then a quiz, karaoke, live music, a film or a bar run with the hosts, and a rooftop party every Friday. Three meals a day are included, plus three drinks, the last of which can be a beer. A pool, an air-conditioned gym, an ice bath and a cinema room take care of the hours in between.
If you want quiet, look somewhere else. If you are travelling solo and would rather not stay that way past the first dinner, this is the house.
Choose the experience that fits your trip.

What is within reach of the camp.
It is who the camp is for: most guests arrive on their own, mostly in their twenties and thirties, and only adults are taken. Dinners are at shared tables and something is planned every night, from the quiz to the Friday party on the roof.
From €65 a night at the lowest rate, with everything in the package. The price rises with the season and the bed: the double bunk, the king bunk and the private room cost more. Only the booking page gives the exact figure for your dates.
Yes, from fourteen nights. Below that it costs €90 on top. Allow two and a half to three hours by road from Colombo airport on the southern expressway. You can arrive on any day of the week, so book the transfer together with your arrival date.
Nearly half the guests arrive as beginners. The morning lesson is taught by level, on the bay in front of the house, over sand where you can stand a long way out. The afternoon guided session is mostly for people already on their feet; theory and pool work fill in the rest.
