La Baie is the reason people come to Imsouane. A right-hand point peeling the length of the bay over sand and rock, one of the longest rides in Africa, and gentle enough for a longboard and a first season.
January here is the best month on the whole coast: twenty clean, surfable days out of thirty, ten blown out, none too small. It wants a northwest groundswell and a northeasterly offshore.
Two cautions. It gets busier year on year, with day trips arriving from Taghazout through the morning, so the quiet session is the early one. And the rips across the bay are strong, which on a wave this long mostly means the paddle back to the peak is far shorter than it looks.
