Surfing in Imsouane
Imsouane is a fishing village ninety minutes north of Taghazout, and it exists for one wave. The Bay peels a right that runs close to seven hundred metres on its day, among the longest in Morocco and among the gentlest anywhere: it is a longboard wave, it is a first-day wave, and it is a wave your legs give out on before it does.

Cathedral Point, out of the village to the north, is the other side of it: shorter, hollower and over shallow ground, for people who already know what they are doing.

Why Imsouane?
One wave, and it is enough
Few places sum up this plainly. Nobody comes to Imsouane for variety, for nightlife or for convenience: they come to stay on their feet longer than they can anywhere else, and for a village that does not run at the speed of the rest of the coast.
Two years after the demolition, what survived is precisely that.
Where is Imsouane?
Getting there
Imsouane sits at the end of a road that goes nowhere else, ninety minutes from Taghazout and two hours from Agadir airport. It is the most isolated village on the stretch of Moroccan coast published here, and that is half of what makes it what it is.
On 17 January 2024 the beachfront was demolished, with about a day's notice to residents and businesses; the oldest quarter, Tasblast, is gone. Two years on the rubble is cleared, most camps and guesthouses have reopened and building continues. The village you will find is not the one in photographs taken before 2024.

Imsouane at a glance
Imsouane's rating is a one-wave village's rating, and the Bay is what makes it: 4.6 for beginners, the best of the three villages, on a sand-bottomed wall that forgives everything. Against that, its rating for experienced surfers is the lowest on the coast at 3.6: outside Cathedral Point there is nothing here for somebody looking for a barrel.
The rest of the grid describes isolation rather than shortage. Crowds at 2.2 and nightlife at 2.0, both the lowest; remote work at 3.4 suffers from a narrower choice of connection and cafés than Taghazout offers.
