Praia Tofo is the beach the village sits behind, sand, favouring lefts, on a south-east swell with a south-south-westerly offshore.
April gives eleven clean days out of thirty, seven blown out and twelve too small. It is filed inconsistent, and the too-small share is where that shows: the swell has to make it round the top of Madagascar to get here, and often it does not.
It is unlikely to be busy even when the surf is up, which is the argument for the whole coast in one line.
Sharks and rocks are named. The bottom where you surf is sand and the rocks are at the southern end, towards the point. This is the beach a school works and the one to be on for a first week, and Tofinho is where you go once standing up has stopped being the problem.
