Boilers is the farthest north of the Taghazout breaks, about twelve kilometres up the coast towards Cap Ghir. An exposed reef that works often, throwing a right that upper intermediates and experienced surfers make the drive for.
It sits in a wind channel formed by the foothills of the Atlas, which is why it is rarely onshore when everything else is. That is its real value: on the day Taghazout is chopped up, this is where you go. It wants a west-northwest swell and an easterly offshore. In December, sixteen days out of thirty come clean, the other fourteen blown out.
Three things before paddling out: rips, rocks, and the rusting shipwreck the wave runs close to. Its boiler gave the break its name. This is ground that asks you to already read a reef.
