Banana Beach is the river-mouth break below Tamraght, and along with Devil's Rock it is where most first weeks in Morocco actually happen. Sand bottom, a peeling right, nothing unkind.
It works best at high tide, on a northwest swell with a northeasterly offshore. January gives eighteen clean days out of thirty, seven blown out, five too small.
Expect company. This is the training ground for every school in the valley, and the minibuses arrive mid-morning. The rips are real, which is the reason to surf it with an instructor rather than alone.
