Banana Point is the point above the beach of the same name, on soft sand, mellow and often mushy. That is not a complaint: it is exactly what makes it a place to move from whitewater to green waves.
It works at all stages of the tide, on a northwest swell with an east-southeasterly offshore. December is its best month, and it should be taken for what it is: one day in two is clean, the other is blown out. Over a week that means three or four sessions, not seven.
It gets crowded. Rips, undertow and rocks come with the ground, which is why this is a wave to progress on with a guide rather than alone.
