Devil's Rock is a sandbar beach break on the long beach below Tamraght, with prevailing lefts and rides of fifty to a hundred metres. It is the winter answer for a first week: when the points are too big to be sensible, this is still surfable.
Best around mid tide, on a northwest groundswell with a northeasterly offshore. January gives nineteen clean days out of thirty, seven blown out, four too small, which is the best return in the area for a beginner.
It stays quiet even when the surf is up: sand, few people, nothing sharp. This is where the Tamraght camps move their lessons when the swell builds, and the reason a week here holds up in midwinter.
