Elephant Rock is the furthest south of the four Arugam Bay points, named after the boulder sitting off it, and far enough down the track that you will often have it alone. Even in season, nobody drives past the Main Point for it.
A right on an east-south-easterly swell with a north-westerly offshore, and it works at all stages of the tide, which matters when the drive is forty minutes and you cannot pick your hour.
Nothing on the bottom to catch you and nothing in the line-up to argue with. Between this and Whiskey Point, someone still learning has two waves on the east coast that neither the Main Point nor the reefs of the south will give them.
