September runs the same two seasons as August with the end of each in sight. The humpbacks are still in the bays and will leave through October, and the southern swell is arriving less often than it did in June and July.
For anybody choosing between the four whale months, September has an argument the others do not: the calves born in July and August are large enough to be active, and the boats out of Nuquí see more than they do at the start of the season. That is a better reason to prefer one week over another than anything the surf forecast will tell you here.
The point still gets its days when a swell lines up, and Pico de Loro is six months from its own best month and working whenever the wind allows, which in September it often does not.
