February is the second month of the same pattern. The trades hold, the sky stays clear, and the swell stays modest. The northern Pacific is the call this month: Playa Avellanas and Marbella hold the clean, reliable beach breaks while the bigger southern spots wait for their season.
That is a useful instruction rather than a preference. With no south groundswell, the spots that work are the ones that pick up what little there is and hold it open in an offshore, and the Guanacaste beach breaks do that better than the points further south. Water at 28°C, rain almost nowhere, and the crowd of the high season on the popular beaches.
