November turns the weather. The first storms of the wet season arrive, the humidity comes up, and the cyclone season opens even though the serious risk is still two months away.
The surf follows the weather down. What reaches Tofo now is small and irregular, and the point spends most of the month flat. Praia Tofo, the beach in front of the village, keeps producing something on most days, which is what makes it the beginner's break here and the whole of the offer for the next four months.
The water has climbed back to 26°C and the village is quiet for a few more weeks. From the middle of December that changes completely, so November and early December are the last of the empty warm weeks before the South Africans arrive.
