June puts Senegal fully on its southern schedule. The swell is small, the south shore is where it lands, and the rains begin: the wet season runs from now until October and it arrives as afternoon storms rather than as days of grey.
For learning, the combination is close to ideal. Small waves on Yoff Beach, sand underneath, water past twenty-five degrees and no wetsuit decision to make. The schools run all through this and it is the cheapest half of the year to book.
For anybody chasing the reefs, this is the wrong end of the calendar and the country page says so. Ngor needs the North Atlantic, and the North Atlantic is asleep.
