February is January again, minus a degree in the water. The North Atlantic is still producing and the north shore of the peninsula is still the answer, which makes this the most dependable stretch of the Senegalese year.
The dry season is at its driest. Some days the harmattan carries dust off the Sahara and the light goes flat and orange, which affects photographs more than it affects surfing.
What it does not do is get warmer. The sea keeps sliding towards the March floor, and a week here in February is a week in a full suit for anybody who feels the cold.
