September carries the best single figure in the country, and it is worth reading carefully. Ngor is clean and rideable seven days out of thirty this month, which is the highest share of any month at any Senegalese break we have looked at, and it is still only seven.

That is the honest shape of this coast. The wind decides almost everything here, and September is when it interferes least. It is not when the swell is biggest: that is still three months away.

The water tops out now and holds through October at 28 to 29°C, the warmest it gets anywhere on this coast. Warm water, cleanest wind, summer-sized surf.
