March is a pivot, and a clean one. The swell drops to 1.8 m but keeps its 12.5-second period: the same North Atlantic trains, slightly smaller. Wind stays workable seventeen days out of thirty.

Everything else moves. Crowds and prices both fall a full step, from high to medium, while the quality of the swell barely changes. That gap is what makes March, with October, the month regulars aim for: roughly February's wave without February's week.

Sun climbs to 8.6 hours a day, air to 23 °C, water holds at 18 °C. Three rainy days and 31 mm are the last real rain before autumn.

Learning in March

For learning : Very good

March is the first genuinely comfortable month to learn in. The swell has dropped far enough that the sandbars are school waves again rather than walls, and Banana Beach and Devil's Rock work most days. Imsouane bay stays the most forgiving option on the coast. Medium prices change the arithmetic too: a week of lessons costs less than February for water at the same temperature.

For an experienced surfer

Surf : Very good

The swell is still here and the queue is not. Anchor Point works at 1.8 m, so does Killer Point, and Panoramas becomes worth it again on a rising tide when the points fill up. March is the best compromise of the year for someone who came to surf rather than to be there in the best month.
